Lab / Equipement
Our laboratory is allocated at the Unit of Biophysics and Bioengineering at the School of Medicine of the University of Barcelona. We have cell culture facilities, one Nikon TE 2000 microscope (with an attached setup for confocal), one Zeiss Axiovert IX70 microscope and conventional equipments to carry out molecular analysis. In addition, the University of Barcelona is integrated into other foundations as the Fundació Clínic and the Institut de Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer, which provides various services with the most advanced analysis techniques (flow cytometer, intravital microscopy, two photon microscopes, and other molecular facilities). In terms of biophysical approaches: we have the cutting edge nanotechnologies and advanced biophysical techniques, including atomic force microscopy (AFM), magnetic tweezers, cell stretching, Surface Micro/Nano-patterning, traction microscopy, 3D printers, respiratory mechanics techniques, animal models of mechanical ventilation and obstructive sleep apnea.
We have a multidisciplinary team composed by degree, master and PhD students which have different backgrounds: physicists, biologists, biomedical engineers, physicians engaging basic and clinical scientists in translational research.
